RIVER RUN
When stepping into Jocasta’s home you’re first struck by her strong sense of self, the opulence of the rich fabrics and and intricate wood detailing, and soon thereafter met with the horrific realities of owning a plantation in the 18th century.
Jamie and Claire seem to sway some of Jocasta’s beliefs by rejecting her offer for them to inherit River Run. Their major concerns are that they refuse to support slavery or really have any ties or obligations to the British throne. While she doesn’t seem to fully understand, I believe by the end of their first visit that they have at least planted the seed of political unrest in her heart.
River Run is inspired by the gorgeous sofa fabric seen in Jocasta’s sitting room. It’s a muted teal blue on the superwashed bases, and leans more cornflower on the non-superwash options.
