Lane Kim- one of my favorite characters because of her arc. She is just so bummed when she gets pregnant because she fears it means she will have to stop being her fun musical self, after years of being repressed by her mother. While I completely empathize and understand where she’s coming from, Zach provides the best enlightenment in telling her she can easily be both. Being a mother doesn’t mean you can’t also keep doing what makes you happy and brings you fulfillment. It’s just an add on!
This colorway was inspired by the stage lights and limelight that Lane has come to love. Being a drummer gave her the confidence and empowerment she was so badly searching for her entire life.
“Having Babies Doesn’t Mean You Can’t be Rock and Roll” is a bright green pastel that I’m absolutely obsesssssed with. It’s so different from anything I’ve ever created despite the fact that it feels like it’s come from the deepest parts of my soul. 💚
Perhaps it has a lot to do with the meaning of the colorway itself. I identify with Lane, because I felt like I kind of lost myself when I became a mother for a bit. Fiber arts and dyeing yarn kind of reawakened a side of me that I had allowed to become dormant. It made me realize that what I love and want to do is also important.
